Accomplishments: Spearheaded the successful passage of 15 Colorado laws; 'Autism Answers' presentations to the community at large about autism and ASC’s programs held no less than 50 times annually, educating approximately 1,400 people each year; developed a training program in 2008 to train 59 respite providers and then expanded it in 2009 to train childcare providers so that they would feel comfortable to receive children with special needs into their care settings; families also receive training to maximize their success in hiring, training and building rapport with potential caregivers for their loved ones; produced nine 10-minute educational and inspirational DVD’s about “life with autism.”; created community enrichment opportunities for families and individuals. ASC also has a Give Me aBreak Respite Fund, which provides a modest stipend of money to families in need of respite care.
