Have You Met?

He could write a book about the celebrities he has met throughout his interior design and event planning career – from Lee Iacocca to Princess Grace to General Douglas MacArthur’s widow. But for David Alexander, memories of family and friends will always be what matters most.

The oldest of two brothers and two stepsisters, David left New York City in 1989 to “return to my family” who had relocated from Salt Lake City to Denver.” In the Big Apple, David worked as director of design and restoration for the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, the world’s largest hotel where David learned “celebrities are normal people.”

To his credit, many hotel residents “wanted to hire me to design their homes.” So, he started his own business, David Alexander Design. “I have a short attention span,” he laughs, “and like to do a lot of things. Designing and coordinating events affords me that.”

David always finds time to give back. “I’ve been blessed with a lot of energy,” says the co-chair for Hospice of Metro Denver’s 2002 Mask Project and board member for Colorado AIDS Project and Faces.

Of the many social events he attends, David claims, “my favorite is Greek Easter at my mother’s house with my entire family. It’s a wonderful tradition.”
