Michelle Marie King hopes sharing her ever-evolving personal life experiences will help women of all ages find their inner beauty and find the key to leading a positive life. Michelle who is a Colorado-based philanthropic leader, motivational speaker, children’s author, blogger and model coach, is highly regarded as an outstanding confidence-building mentor; and she has a keen understanding of what young women need today so they can thrive.
King, who is a former Ms. Colorado State America (2013), became an international runway model and then decided to put her energy, capabilities, and focus into mentoring girls on how to give back to their communities and build up their own strong self-esteem. Michelle says: “I am devotedly committed to being the rock that starts the largest ripple of positivity and peace, and I cannot think of a better purpose for my life than to be a personal development trailblazer.”
Michelle has some poignant life stories to tell. In her quest to make a positive difference in the lives of others, King is open about her suffering from anorexia, bulimia, and living through an attempted suicide when she was an international runway model. She has promoted her positive platform on radio, television, billboards, and in print throughout the country.
Known for her professionalism, compassion, heart of gold, attention to detail, and leadership, Michelle started her own company, Positive Presence – which according to King - actually intends to be more of a powerful, worldwide movement. Since she was in high school around 15 years ago, Michelle sees the world for young teens as becoming much more challenging with social media, pressure from the beauty industry, and having a general lack of self-esteem and confidence.
Upon joining her program, King helps those young people practice self-love and grow with grace by offering classes in: Modern Manners, Living an Authentic & Positive Life, Health & Fitness, Hair & Makeup, Personal Styling, How to Become a Role Model, Practical Leadership, Emotional Ownership and.... so much more. Positive Presence enriches, empowers, and inspires from within and has become the largest (and fastest growing) confidence coaching company in the State of Colorado by creating a "safe space" for teens to find their purpose. Michelle is dedicated to protecting young girls and helping them eliminate negative attitudes and behavior and get rid of the darkness and feel the brightness in their lives. To say she is an impressive person making her mark on the world today, goes without saying. Although, many positive comments have been made about Michelle Marie King and her mission…. here’s just one to share: “Michelle puts her heart and soul into everything she does and genuinely tries to make the world a better place. Her professional manner accents her radiant personality and makes her an ideal candidate for anything she is passionate to pursue.” Dawn Osborn, Spokesmodel
Michelle, what was the main inspiration behind you creating Positive Presence?
My daughter! After she was born in 2015, I reinvented my model coaching business from my 20's but from a mother’s perspective. I started thinking about all the things I wish she would learn to avoid the pitfalls of being a young woman in our society and Positive Presence was birthed.
Tell us about your rapid growth since your humble beginnings in Douglas County?
Our first year, we became the largest privately-owned model coaching company in the state of CO, and our second year, we became the largest confidence coaching company in CO. I feel very strongly that we simply created the right coaching model to the right age group at the right time especially with the Gen Z ‘Lives Matter’ movement and the ‘Me Too’ movement – what we coach and teach is needed now more than ever!
You have become involved with several charitable organizations. What are some of the nonprofits you have or are working with? I was very fortunate to have my first in-depth experience serving a nonprofit when I was part of a youth team in High School over 10 years ago. It’s always been my passion to incorporate fashion into a nonprofits’ fundraising efforts to appeal to a new demographic. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for The Serenity Project and help produce and direct several fashion shows for nonprofits across the front range.
What word best describes your life right now? Resilience! As a young entrepreneur, mom, wife and student of life, I am constantly learning and constantly taking risks. I enter every relationship with a positive mentality and a respectful manner, but sometimes there is still a lesson to be learned through potentially negative and sometimes harmful relationships. Resilience is the one word to describe my ability to always get back up even through the heartache and just keep going.
Other than your family, what is your proudest personal achievement? Starting Positive Presence! I founded this company with one mission in mind – to positively impact as many people in this world as I could. With the help of my corporate team, our clients and all our community partners – that mission has become an international phenomenon known as the Positive Presence Movement. It’s humbling to wake up 2 ½ years later and look around at my legacy.
If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title of it be?
“Finding Positive Presence & Inspiring the World with It.”
With all the pressure to perform and conform to the standards of others out there, how does one hold on to their true self and still become successful?
Be unapologetically authentic! Find what makes you happy and do more of that. Our emotions are the first sign of our thoughts manifesting and the more off course we are from happiness, the further we get from it. I believe the feeling of happiness is a barometer of our true north and anything and everything we do in life should be as close to true north as possible.
How do you stay so motivated and committed to your mission and vision?
It’s not easy… some days, especially when darkness seeps in from the world’s scars and sufferings, I catch myself getting away from my true north! It helps me to remember that I needed Positive Presence the most, especially when I was a teenager, a model, a young woman, a new mom and a budding entrepreneur. In every one of those phases, I struggled with something that I was never taught, and I was forced to learn simple life necessities on my own. Positive Presence allows teenagers and women the opportunity to not be alone and learn everything they need to be successful in this society.
Tell us about some of the projects you are working on now?
Currently we are working on raising $250,000 in capital fundraising to fund our expansion efforts of developing Positive Presence into a franchise within the next year. I also am at the forefront of developing a production company that will create high-end POSITIVE fashion events across the front range where ALL parties including models and designers are PAID – a practice that is not currently offered in any fashion events here in CO. I also just purchased a high-end printed publication in Observatory Park and am working on an international monthly subscription service with five of my ‘soul sisters’ to support women around the world. My goal is to build an empire with businesses and brands that enrich, empower and inspire the world!
When do you feel you are most in your element? When I’m with my family – they have become my true north.
Where do you see yourself in the future? Next 5 years? 10 years? Positive Presence is going to become the largest confidence coaching company in the world in less than five years – that’s been our mission since the very beginning! I welcome opportunities the next 5 years to travel the world with my family, become a nationally acclaimed motivational public speaker, grow my empire to well over a billion-dollar conglomerate and write my first best-selling book! By the time I’m 40 – 7 years from now – I envision becoming the next Ellen DeGeneres and having a multi-million-dollar media company showcasing all the positive, amazing things in this world!
What do you hope your legacy will be? My legacy is already in Positive Presence! I now have over four generations of models and young ladies that I have mentored, supported and coached in some capacity. By the end of this year, I plan to step out of coaching and begin to mentor and coach coaches to have the same impact I have had on teenagers and young adults in their own communities. My legacy lives on in the hundreds of thousands of people that are destined to receive Positive Presence coaching throughout the world.
